Committed to improving the lives of individuals & families living & working in New London & Windham counties by providing financial support to a variety of programs, events & community groups, we also make it a priority to share our financial knowledge & to lend a helping hand. Our Community Giving Program is divided into six programs: Financial Literacy, Grants, Involvement, Outreach, Partnerships & Scholarships.

This program is geared specifically to non-profit organizations that foster economic development and social well-being in both New London and Windham counties. To learn more, click here.
Charter Oak also gives back to the community by promoting financial education and awareness. Our two high school branches (located at Killingly High School in Dayville and Robert E. Fitch Senior High School in Groton) employ students interested in careers in financial service and encourage students to start saving for the future. We also visit other area high schools and organizations within our field of membership to make presentations on budgeting, saving and more.

For over 70 years, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has dedicated itself to helping make New London and Windham counties better places to live and work. From opening day ceremonies at your local baseball field, to festivals, charitable walks and yard cleanups; our employees regularly attend events and volunteer their time in order give back to various local organizations. We look forward to meeting our members and potential members in relaxed, informal settings.

Each Friday, many of Charter Oak’s employees pay a fee to dress casually in support of individuals, families and community groups in need of emergency funding. Donating thousands of dollars each year, Community Outreach funds have helped families fill their oil tanks in the winter, paid for school supplies for needy children or supported homeless shelters in need of immediate assistance.

Charter Oak is also committed to supporting a variety of programs, events and community groups that may not fall under the 501 (c) (3) categories.
