Groton, CT-December 7, 2009-Charter Oak employees are dedicated to giving back to the community and Since January 2009, Credit Union employees have donated $27,077 to a variety of groups through its Community Outreach Program. In November and December alone, Community Outreach donations were made to Books for Dreams, Kids for Christmas, Colectivo Mestizal, MALTA, Bethsaida Community Inc., Holy Family Shelter Inc., WARM, the Friends of Assisi Food Pantry and the March of Dimes. The Program also donated $2,000 worth of turkeys to the Gemma Moran Food Center just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Made possible by the donations employees pay to dress casually on Fridays, the Community Outreach Program benefits individuals, families and community groups in need of emergency funding. Donating thousands of dollars each year, donated funds have gone to help families fill their oil tanks in the winter, paid for school supplies for needy children or supported homeless shelters in need of immediate assistance.
Should you or someone you know be experiencing financial difficulty, please submit your written request detailing your hardship to mtuneski@cofcu.com or drop it off in an envelope marked Community Outreach at any Charter Oak branch.
