LOCAL STUDENT RECEIVES COLLEGE GRANT FROM CHARTER OAK AND THE ACCEL/EXCHANGE EFT NETWORK
Rhode Island Student Wins $1,000 from Nationwide College Grant Program
With the support of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, a Rhode Island teen was honored for his achievements in the Education Exchange 2010 College Grant Program. The Education Exchange is sponsored annually by the ACCEL/Exchange Network, an electronic funds transfer network-owned by Fiserv, Inc., which is used by the Credit Union. Through the program, 34 high school seniors from across the country are selected to share $50,000 in college grants (4-$5,000 grants and 30-$1,000 grants). From an initial pool of thousands of applicants, a grant of $1,000 was awarded to Matthew Amylon of Coventry, RI based on his scholastic achievement, community involvement, character, leadership and financial need.
Publicizing the Program, Charter Oak makes Education Exchange College Grant applications available every spring in each of the Credit Union’s 10 branches located throughout New London and Windham Counties. Coupled with the Credit Union’s Community Scholarship Program, student members can receive up to $7,000 in funding towards the pursuit of higher education.
