For Charter Oak Employees,
Giving is Easy!
Employees Dedicated Over $75k of their Paychecks to Charity in 2008
Groton, CT-January 30, 2009-Despite the weakening economy, Charter Oak employees think it is more important than ever to give back to their communities. Luckily, the credit union makes it easy for employees to give, by providing automatic payroll deductions of donations to both the United Way and the credit union's Community Outreach Program. Over 100 employees participate in the charitable automatic deduction program, which resulted in over $75k in donations this past year.
118 employees pay a weekly $3 fee to dress casually in support of the Community Outreach Program, which benefits individuals, families and community groups in need of emergency funding. The employee funded Program is overseen by a committee of credit union staff which distributed over $27k to various community groups and individuals in 2008.
In addition to the Community Outreach Program, Charter Oak is a proud supporter of the United Way of SECT. A three-time winner of the Chairman's Award of Excellence, Charter Oak employees Pat Lima, Maria Tuneski, Lisa Gaudreau, Jacinta Nardone, Nikesha Smith, Yvonne Walsh, Rose Lalumiere, Shannon Greene, Juvy Sherman and Kim Bryant were honored with the Circle of Honor Award at the Norwich Inn & Spa on January 28th. Leading 128 credit union staff to an 80% participation level in the United Way program, as well as increasing the number of Leadership Givers from 12 to 16, Charter Oak is one of the United Way's most valued supporters.
