Names Charitable Fund
after Former Charter Oak CEO Larry Hertell
Groton, CT-November 2, 2009- In a room filled with nearly 200 employees, Credit Union League of CT President, Dr. Tony Emerson announced that a charitable fund supporting CT's smaller credit unions would be named posthumously after former Charter Oak CEO Larry Hertell.
Known for his efforts to build credit union awareness and to unite credit unions throughout the country through the Shared Branching Network, Hertell was the Credit Union's CEO from 1992 to 2007. Presenting a plaque to Hertell's wife Sandy and to current CEO Brian Orenstein, Emerson lauded Hertell and his many accomplishments and good deeds.
To further honor Larry Hertell and his dedication to the Credit Union, Charter Oak's Community Outreach and Community Giving programs will be making a donation of $2,500 to two area food banks this Thanksgiving.
