CHARTER OAK FCU AND FITCH HIGH SCHOOL
HOLD APPRENTICE CHALLENGE!
Students Competed to Develop Next Promotion
for Credit Union’s High School Branches
24 Fitch High School (FHS) students took part in an Apprentice Challenge recently to develop a new marketing campaign for Charter Oak Federal Credit Union! Organized by FHS Business Education teacher Shelly O’Neal-Kegler and Charter Oak’s Kim Bartlett, the event is modeled after Donald Trump’s popular television show. Students were challenged to find new and exciting ways to promote Charter Oak’s Focused on Finance Program to high school students.
From Free Orange Fridays (rewarding students who stop into the branch wearing Charter Oak’s signature orange color) to holding a membership drive and rewarding the class who has the most student accounts -participants in the Apprentice Challenge brainstormed a variety of innovative marketing ideas that will be used next year at both Fitch and Killingly High Schools. The team pitching the account drive won in the end, but all the teams will see at least one of their ideas come to life this fall in Charter Oak’s high school branches.
Participating students were mentored by volunteer marketing experts Diane Martin of Hall Radio, Kris Peterson-Browning of The Day Publishing Company, Jackie Steele of Citadel Broadcasting and Pete Hary of Quinn and Hary Marketing.
Charter Oak would like to thank Fitch’s Shelly O’Neal Kegler and all the mentors who shared their creativity and expertise that day!

Students, mentors and Charter Oak employees are all smiles following
a creative day of brainstorming at Fitch High School!
