CHARTER OAK CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING
AT KILLINGLY HIGH SCHOOL BRANCH
Dozens of students, teachers, credit union staff, as well as school & town officials gathered at 10:00am on September 15th at Killingly High School to celebrate the opening of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s second high school branch. Built to promote financial literacy and to provide educational services, the branch will be staffed by both Charter Oak and student employees. Offering low-cost deposit products, students will be encouraged to save for the future with free financial counseling and special promotions.

A collaborative ribbon cutting ceremony led by Nick Haines of the Northeastern Connecticut’s Chamber of Commerce, the festivities featured various speakers including Killingly Superintendent Dr. William Silver, new Killingly Principal Andy Rockett, Charter Oak CEO Brian Orenstein and Charter Oak’s KHS Branch Manager Sonya Armstrong. Prior to light refreshments, Charter Oak’s Board Chairman Pierre Brochu did the official honors of cutting the ribbon with scissors loaned by Tony Sheridan of the Eastern CT Chamber of Commerce.

Following the event, several teachers, students and credit union staff made transactions such as cashing checks and making deposits. A great start to an exciting venture, over thirty students have already opened new savings accounts.
