CHARTER OAK’S TURKEY DRIVE GETS NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Card Services for Credit Unions Awards $500 Scholarship for Annual Turkey Drive
Florida based Card Services for Credit Unions (CSCU), the nation’s largest electronic-payments association serving credit unions recently announced that Charter Oak Federal Credit Union was named a runner-up in its annual Community Outreach Scholarship Program, which awards funding to credit unions across the nation in order to supplement ongoing community service projects.
Named a runner-up in CSCU’s national competition, Charter Oak was awarded $500 for its annual Turkey and Fixin’s Drive, which is held in honor of the Credit Union’s former CEO, Larry Hertell. Collecting turkeys and fixins’ like cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, gravy and stuffing, the drive helps provide complete meals to families in need. This year alone, Charter Oak’s Community Outreach and Community Giving Programs donated 228 turkeys and over 1,800 pounds of food to various food banks throughout Eastern CT!
Charter Oak would like to thank CSCU for this honor! With this award, the Credit Union will add another 50 turkeys to its 2011 drive!
