For over 70 years, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has dedicated itself to helping make New London and Windham counties better places to live and work. We offer relationships beyond banking, and this commitment often takes us beyond the walls of our Credit Union and out into the communities in which we serve.
From opening day ceremonies at your local baseball field, to festivals, charitable walks and yard cleanups; our employees regularly attend events and volunteer their time in order give back to various local organizations. We look forward to meeting our members and potential members in relaxed, informal settings.

CHARTER OAK FEDERAL CREDIT UNION’S
PENS GO GLOBAL!
Credit Union’s Popular Pens Make Their Way to Africa in Support of American Friends of Kenya Program
Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s pens can be found everywhere you turn! From the aprons of waiters at local restaurants, to the desks of school children throughout the region-Charter Oak’s popular white and orange pens are popping up everywhere!
Distributed to members at the Credit Union’s 11 branch locations, to schools and community groups in need, as well as to individuals attending events where Charter Oak has a promotional table, over 100,000 pens have already been distributed this year throughout New London and Windham counties. Becoming more and more popular, the pens are known for writing well and being easy to spot in a purse or car thanks to the bright orange ends. Believe it or not, another 50,000 pens will be distributed before the end of December- which more than doubles the amount the Credit Union distributed in 2010.
And now, in addition to breaking distribution records, the pens are traveling internationally to help those in need! Stowing away in the luggage of volunteers from the American Friends of Kenya Program, Charter Oak’s pens have traveled all the way to Africa where they were used this past August by library, education and clinical teams for several workshops, conferences and clinics throughout Kenya’s central and Great Rift Valley provinces. Far beyond our field of membership, who would have thought these pens could have such an impact?!
To join in this international craze and get your very own free Charter Oak Federal Credit Union pen, simply stop by any branch location or visit us at one of our upcoming community events this fall to pick one up!
