NEW LONDON COMMUNITY BOATING GRADUATES ANOTHER CLASS OF YOUNG SAILORS!
Each summer, New London Community Boating, under the guidance of Program Director Carolyn Leuze, offers a free sailing program for New London youth ages 9 to 15. Based on Pequot Avenue where you can often see small sailboats zipping along on the water, New London Community Boating teaches youth basic sailing terms, how to rig boats, safety procedures and maneuvering skills while offering snacks, drinks and transportation to the Program.
A very special opportunity for youth in our field of membership, New London Community Boating serves over 300 students each summer with support from partners like Charter Oak Federal Credit Union. Receiving funding support through Charter Oak’s Community Giving Program, 10 students received sailing scholarships in 2010, while 16 received scholarships in 2011. Here’s to another great summer of new learning opportunities and fun on the water!
