SHRED YOUR PAPERS FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Charter Oak's April 10th Shred Day Protects Consumers & the Environment
Groton, CT-March 16, 2010 -The community is invited to take advantage of free shredding services being offered at three Charter Oak Federal Credit Union locations on Saturday, April 10th. Providing the public with a safe and environmentally friendly way to destroy documents containing personal identifying information, the free Shred Day events will take place at Charter Oak's Dayville, Long Hill Road (Groton) and Norwich offices from 9:30am until Noon.
Joined by Shred-It, Charter Oak sponsors the event every year in order to help educate and protect the public from the risks of identity theft. All of the paper collected by Shred-It is shredded, recycled and reused. In 2009, visitors to the event saved over 100 trees by contributing unwanted documents.
In addition to urging members to safeguard their personal information in an eco-friendly way, Charter Oak uses the event to help local food banks. Those utilizing the free shredding services on April 10th are urged to bring a canned good donation that will benefit the Friends of the Assisi in Danielson and the Gemma Moran Food Center in New London.
