CHARTER OAK’S COMMUNITY GIVING PROGRAM
ANNOUNCES LATEST ROUND OF FUNDING RECIPIENTS

Credit Union’s Charitable Program Announces $15,000 in Grant and Partnership Awards

Groton, CT-March 4, 2011-Charter Oak Federal Credit Union’s Community Giving Program, which donates to over 200 community organizations annually, has announced its list of Grant and Partnership recipients for the first quarter.

Recipient organizations include: Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center-a $2,000 grant to provide medical and counseling services to expectant mothers; Fairview Oddfellows Home of Groton-a $1,000 grant for new resident bathing tubs; First Baptist Church of Norwich-a $1,500 grant for its “Because We Care Team,” which collects and distributes clothing to those in need; FRESH New London-$1,000 for its efforts to provide healthy food to the people of New London; Habitat for Humanity of SECT-a $2,500 grant for its efforts to eliminate sub-standard housing and to rehab New London neighborhoods; Mystic Area Shelter & Hospitality-a $3,000 grant for its ongoing efforts to aid the homeless; New London Community Orchestra-a $500 grant for its start-up community orchestra which will provide free classical music concerts for the New London area; Shiloh Development Corporation’s Women of Excellence Program-a $1,500 partnership for its Debutante Program and Willimantic’s V.F.W. Gold Star Post #1724-a $2,000 grant to replace its leaky roof.

For organizations seeking funding, applications can be found on the Credit Union’s award-winning website, www.charteroak.org. For organizations requesting $2,500 and over in funding, the next submission deadline for applications is April 1, 2011.
