CHARTER OAK EMPLOYEES HELP BUILD NEW HOME
Charter Oak Credit Union Employees Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity
Groton, CT-June 19th, 2009-Charter Oak Federal Credit Union employees gathered together on May 9th to help Habitat for Humanity plasterboard and paint their latest addition to the Davis Farm Way neighborhood in New London. Made up of simple and affordable homes, the neighborhood includes three other houses built by hundreds of community volunteers. Habitat for Humanity, which began in 1976, has built over 300,000 homes around the world for those in need of decent housing.
The Charter Oak sponsored Build Day featured painting and sheet rock installation in two of the Davis Farm Way homes by Credit Union employees Sharon DiMarco, Sherri Underwood, Cathie Forier, Alena Johnson, Hans Manisene and Kim Bartlett. In addition to the Build Day sponsorship, Charter Oak's employee funded Community Outreach Program donated an additional $500 to the organization.
