CHARTER OAK ANNOUNCES FREE SHRED DAY
SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 16TH!

Community Shred Day Scheduled for Saturday, October 16th
at Norwich, Long Hill and Waterford Locations
Groton, CT-September 14, 2010 - The community is invited to take advantage of free shredding services being offered at three Charter Oak Federal Credit Union locations on Saturday, October 16th. Providing the public with a safe and environmentally friendly way to destroy documents containing personal identifying information, the free Shred Day events will take place at Charter Oak’s Long Hill Road (Groton), Norwich and Waterford offices from 9:00am until Noon.
Joined by Shred-It, Charter Oak sponsors the event in order to help educate and protect the public from the risks of identity theft. All of the paper collected by Shred-It is shredded, recycled and reused. In 2009, visitors to the event saved over 100 trees by contributing unwanted documents.
In addition to urging members to safeguard their personal information in an eco-friendly way, Charter Oak uses the event to help local food banks. Those utilizing the free shredding services on October 16th are urged to bring a canned good donation that will benefit the Gemma Moran Food Center in New London.
