The Charter Oak Philosophy
Why Should You Be Banking with Us?
Headquartered in Groton, Connecticut, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is a non-profit financial institution organized to serve the changing financial needs of all those who live or work in New London or Windham counties. We offer our members relationships beyond banking-providing great rates, products and services, as well as convenient hours and locations.
We are very different from a bank; the people who do business with us are our members, not our customers. As a financial services cooperative, Charter Oak is owned and operated by our members, while it is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of member-owners (rather than a select group of stockholders.)
So how do credit unions work? Well, simply put, all profits above a level to ensure future safety and soundness are returned to our members in the form of lower interest rates charged on loans, higher interest rates paid on deposits, lower service fees, as well as expanded services.
With all of these great benefits to enjoy, we invite you to become a member of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union. We look forward to having the opportunity to serve you and your family!
Our Vision Statement
We utilize our Vision Statement to share with members and employees alike our dreams of the future. More specifically, our Vision Statement is used to express what this organization is striving to become today, tomorrow, and beyond.
To be truly effective, an organization's Vision Statement must be communicated in a succinct manner. We believe Charter Oak's Vision Statement is indeed to the point and crystal clear:

Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to address quality service. Our mission statement therefore is very simple: "We are committed to providing you with the best in financial service."
